BY DESIGN INTERVENTION: Bio

Bryce W. Fleharty

Woodworking has been an interest of mine for a long time. All through high school I taught myself basic skills and built some rough things like a log cabin dog house. I refined my skills a bit by making a tredle lathe. Then what sealed my fate was the making of a cabinet that I degined for a client's specific needs. I enjoyed it, but knew I needed more training.

I was trained at Chippendale International School of Furniture in Gifford, Scotland. I completed the Furniture Design, Making & Restoration Course with the highest possible grades. Through the detailed study of original pieces and hands-on work I was able to learn the techniques and practicalities required in the making of both contemporary and traditional style pieces. Working alongside professional craftsman I gained in-depth knowldge of the skills and expertise required to succeed in providing you with the best quality products!

Since my education I have been working part time in my own shop. I have a tempotary location while my post and beam style barn is being moved and fitted out as an appropriate shop. I am still buying more machines and better products all with the goal of giving you the best finished piece.

I am keeping busy with restoration projects of many kinds. I also took over a business restoring log homes, both new and old styles. I have refinished and restored such as: furniture, NWSB bank lobby, UMC church doors and many others. When Willet band came with some ideas for road cases, I knew it would stretch my talents. I had a lot to learn. In the end it was worth it. I am happy with the results and enjoyed the challenge.
